Kris Van Assche Talks Through Dior Homme’s New Look
Dior Homme’s creative director Kris Van Assche worked as assistant to the house’s former designer, Hedi Slimane, and then assumed the position in March 2007. He has also spearheaded his own eponymous line since 2005. Van Assche’s vision for Dior Homme has been to move away from the hyper-slim silhouette it pioneered in the mid 2000s and toward a more sumptuous masculinity. Here, Van Assche talks to NOWNESS about soft military coats, Johnny Depp and finally getting comfortable at Dior.

French designer jean-paul gaultier today unveiled his spectacular designs for the former abode of jacque carlu, the architect of the palais de chaillot in the 30s. the apartment is situated in front of the eiffel tower, with amazing views over paris. i’m not sure if the apartment will be open for public viewing, i hope it will be.

RIE REVISITED: A PORTRAIT
Stop to consider then, the trail that Rie Rasmussen has left in her wake. Behind that lean 5′ 10 frame lies a stack of genius editorials, piles of comped couture dresses, mega-glam campaigns, high heels to make grown women cry, red carpet extravaganzas in Cannes, many, many champagne soaked nights and (sigh) dust ups in chic Paris boites with blue chip photographers. And that is the trivial stuff. If you want to take it deeper then consider her career in film, first as an actress in Brian de Palma’s “Femme Fatale” and then as the lead in Luc Besson’s “Angel A” culminating in her opening shot as a director with “Human Zoo” a film that debuted at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival. It is very interesting the way she keeps growing her skill set. The proposition that is Miss Rasmussen is clearly many things. But that is Rie’s right and therein lies the distinction and the uniqueness of this woman.
