‘La Suite Elle Decoration’ by Jean-Paul Gaultier
French designer jean-paul gaultier today unveiled his spectacular designs for the former abode of jacque carlu, the architect of the palais de chaillot in the 30s. the apartment is situated in front of the eiffel tower, with amazing views over paris. i’m not sure if the apartment will be open for public viewing, i hope it will be.
Mad and dizzy as it seems with gaultier’s signature nautical stripes running through the apartment, i thought the bright and airiness somewhat balances the subdued chaos very well. it does provide a lot of inspiration about how i would like to decorate my apartment (when i am finally grown up enough to think about it). i thought the decoration was severe yet utterly chic. i want to live there, really.
Gaultier is the third designer to decorate this apartment, after christian lacroix and martin margiela in 2008 and 2009 respectively. a-maz-ing. i wish i am in paris right now.
